Hey Mom,
My week has been good. I baptized two more people haha i'm on fire! ;) but really this area is just really good. I'm looking forward to the Christmas cards! I love hearing about what's going on. It's ok about the Christmas tree haha i'll try to get a picture of me and Santa to you soon. I always hated post offices anyways haha people there are postal. That's awesome that everything went good for you with subbing. Just remember that kids are punks and if they don't want to listen just send them to the dean's and tell the teacher the next day haha! The days are like this.. wake up, study the scriptures and language, and eat breakfast, shower, and go to lunch at a member's house. then we come home, shower again, and rest for a bit. Then go back out till 8:30 - 9 then return home, eat dinner, and chill. Shower as well!! haha the people here are amazing and really relaxed. everyone is willing to help and none of them will slam the door haha!! One thing that's funny is the house doors are always open but if they don't want to talk they just say "No, I don't wanna talk to you" or "go away" but normally they're all awesome. The roaches haven't been a problem, but the ants are driving me insane!! I hate them!! haha Tell Daniel to keep up the good work, and I hope everything goes well for you!

Dear Family,
Yeah I'm still with the same comp and I love it!!! He's awesome byt he leaves for home the 16th. I already know my next companion. He's Brazilian, black, and doesn't speak English haha soooo this will be interesting. hah Mom... why not the hooker for the Santa picture??? Everything is good. My health and body and everything is still good. My legs are a bit tired from walking the hill so much, but what can ya do. That's awesoem that Daniel went 2-1. Could you put a film of him wrestling on the SD card too? I would like that to see him wrestle and how he's doing.
first off... ALISA U CANT HAVE ANY BOYFRIENDS TILL yoUR AT LEAST 16 AANNNDD NOT TILL AFTER I'VE TALKED TO THEM!!! IF ANYONE IS GOING TO BE MY LITTLE SISTER'S BOYFRIEND I NEED TO APPROVE THEM FIRST. yes i'm stoked to talk to you on Christmas and i hope that everything will work out so i can talk to u for a long time ;) i just hope i can talk in english. i was talking to another American missionary and we both were saying Portuguese words for "ingles" haha it was pretty funny when i realized it. You DOG!!!! I miss bass pro shop soooo much!!! I want to hold a gun and shoot one sooo bad haaahahahaaahahahaha it sucks so much not being able to. How ever I got to see a military squad take down a bank with some bad people inside haha it was sick. They had automatic m16's, pistol grip shotguns, and 45 magnums hahha i was soo jazzed!!!! haha it was sooo freakin' cool. that's cool that it played out good for Jake with Santa. Oh so the other elders got chased by a dog hahah it was going to eat them they said but they out ran it but now every time we pass a dog the one elder is shell shocked and is terrified of them even if its a little wiener dog haha. Tell Jake to quit dancing like he's a girl! haha teach him how to dance that'd be hilarious. If you don't then i'll teach him how to and dirty dance haha that's an awesome dance style right there haha jk jk. Give Daniel my email address and tell him to email me. and yes Heather you are the best big/little sister ever ;)

Dear Mommy,
I did get the package from Betsi and the treats were all good. Because it's so humid here they stayed moist. The cookies were perfect and tasted soooo good! There's tons of fresh fruit drinks here so it works. and i'm doing good. You know me i'm just always hungry haha!
Yea I saw grandpa's yard right before I left and I thought that I should just take a bomb to it and gasoline. That's freakin awesome Heather stuck the landing when she fell through the roof!! haha I probably would have just landed on my back. That's how I always fall haha more brains then brawn. Tell Daniel that i'm so proud of him!!! I got fourth at newcomers but it was my second year of wrestling!! So he's already off to a great start. If he keeps it up he can go varsity and get a white letter for four years of a varsity sport. Tell him to work hard for it and he will work wonders. Watch your weight Daniel and always work on your cardio. Run your heart out till its screaming... then run some more. That's the only way to get your cardio better.

I've made a huge rocket using a 5 gallon water jug and alcohol and the flame that spat out was soooo huge it burned the hairs off of my left arm and singed my eyelashes. We wont be doing that again. I was almost attacked by a dog but the owner ran out and saved me and my companion. The roaches here are two inches wide and about the length of my middle finger so 3 or 4 inches long. On average. Ummm oh we had a person recieve an answer to his prayer about the church. In a dream he saw a person in white clothes and he was glowing!! and he told him the church is true and he needs to join it. Sweet huh?! ummm oh we had a BBQ at our house to celebrate the baptism and we ate ...meat i think/hope... and drank Pepsi and guarana and talked all night long. ;)
ok I'll try to find a Santa to take a picture with but it might end up being a fake Santa. like a plastic one that is electronic and sings and dances. haha sorry it's either that or I can ask one of the Brazilian chicks at the hooker corner to put on a Santa hat and a bra and take a picture with me ;) haha love u mom!!
I know no matter what you will do good in your school stuff. I love you!!!

Ya, it would be best to start Daniel on JV (wrestling) but if he gets varsity it will be a humbling experience and he will learn a lot more and a lot better than I did because he will see what he has to do. The coach knows what to do though. He’s good at what he does. I know Daniel will enjoy it a lot.

Is it bad that I think its funny they were freaking out?? Ha! ha! It seems like the past two weeks have been the weeks of fire! Ha ha! Its good that dad went over the fire lesson ;) It is a necessity.
That sucks that Heather didn't get the job. She was looking forward to it. Well I guess she will just have to get what she can get, but its good she's not shopping as much! ;))
Tell dad to take it easy!! He knows his back hurts so tell him I said, "don't do anything heavy lifting." It's not good for him to be doing that. I want a dad when I get back not a veggie ;) tell him to see the chiropractor and that's an order. I have the same keys as an apostle so I can order him on that level! ha ha! ;)
oh tell Bishop to get the Brazilian national anthem and play it on piano. Mom you too. That song is CRAZZZZYYYYY!!!! I always loved it when my professor canceled class! Ha ha! It's nice to get a break. You catch up on all your work its good not to procrastinate! ha ha.
I'm glad u got the S.D. card. Were the two files there? The regular pictures and the file with the pictures?? That sounds like a plan. Just let everyone know where they are.
We had four Elders in the house... the house isn't that big though but its nice. Smaller than the first house on el Tovar. Right now it’s just my comp and me but we will have two more after transfers. We have a stove oven fridge sink shower electricity all the regular stuff a house has except the water isn't drinkable. We have mineral water in a jug that we drink though so that's good.
I miss you too mom and no... You are amazing for raising me. All the hard times I put you through and all that crap. Thank you for helping me become who I am. You did an awesome job. ;) I love u mommy. ;) Look forward to the Halloween pics ;)

Mom,
Yah. I'm feeling better and its going good. it was pretty rough for the few days but I still did the work and everything it was just harder. the headache didn't help anything but oh well. me and my comp are doing every well and we get along great. We have a couple of families but nothing great. We had 6 baptisms marked for yesterday, Sunday, but they fell through... all of them. Everyone here in my area is really welcoming but they don't really accept everything. We usually eat at a members house for lunch, but other than that, it's water mix milk and chocolate and crackers. For dinner, rice or noodles and hot dog and juice. No. no need to send spices. they got some stuff here.
Dad-yah true that. Kids will always be kids. That's good that your doing more family stuff. Heather told me about psych and your psych water ;) That's an awesome show. That would of sucked to be cut in line. why did she take two tacos?!?! One old broad one taco!!! That should be law especially when she cuts. Mom congrats on your basket and that still would of sucked cause i don't like red vines.
(Steve told Greg about a kid in his auto 2 class who was wearing super long pants. He was using the cutting torch. He stepped on the hot metal and caught his pants on fire a little!! I looked over and saw he was on fire. He started kicking his foot with the other foot to put it out but couldn't, so he just dropped to the ground and started rolling and flopping around! It was so funny! I got the hose and put it out. The kid didn't say anything, but everyone was laughing. It was so funny!")
hahahahahah i wish i could of seen that!!!! that would of been hilarious!!!!!!!! when i get the other card back ill send this one so u can see the stuff we have done! haha! ;) thats good though to clean out gpa's garage. It needs it. love you dad.

I miss American food!!! the food here is good but not great.. i found a chicken liver and a huge piece of skin in my beans... i almost ate the liver mom... nasty..

Hey Mommy ;)
I'm typing this and just realized that i think i just missed you online. I think I did get her letter but I don't know where it's at right now and letters usually take 8-11 days not counting Saturday or Sunday. i´ll let u know when i get the package. and i don't know..peanut butter would be nice ;) and milk!!!! they don't have real milk here!!! so upset about that. but yup :) no i was kidding about the milk ;) i really don't need anything mom. ;) I'm good. me and my comp are working hard. i sent my memory card to u with tons of pics. i hope that will make up for my lack of typing .. sorry.. You know Ive never liked typing but I'm trying. the area I'm in is the most poverty ridden area in all of Brazil. the state is called Allagoas. and I'm in Sao Miguel. its pretty bad here in the since that the houses here are smaller than our family room or the biggest is the size of our family room, kitchen, and maybe living room put together. me and my companion are doing good. i really like him. he doesn't speak English but he is good at doing the work. but i love it here. I'm doing alright. I've actually been sick the past three days. ha ha but I've got a fever and a headache and my ears hurt. ha ha I've been doing nothing all today but relaxing. i love pdays. yaaa nothing u can really do. And i got a blessing the 2nd night. that's awesome Ben's a DL! that's sick! ha ha i still cant speak the language so that wouldn't work out for me. and yaaa it sucks not watching TV... but hey guess what!!! i saw lion king and dumbo in Portuguese! sooo hilarious. and i got to watch Charley too ha ha chick flick. yeah, I'll always be cheesy. my lingo is going OK. tell gma next chance i have I'll email them but i love them. well I've been having some pretty weird dreams like i dreamed i was hunting WITH a lion and he was talking to me and we were hunting lambs... also i had one about a serial killer... like i saw his mug shot the types of guns he used and just weird stuff... ... oh and watch out for men that have long straight black hair that's greasy and not well kept and a facial structure kinda like that idiot off of the first George of the Jungle movie (Lyle). but hey i love you!!! i got to go. You're awesome and i love u. Tell the kids i love them too and tell Daniel to email me and tell me about wrestling. also mom what was everyone for Halloween?

mom and dad ;)
I've been doing great here in sao miguel maceio.
My companion is Elder michael and he is awesome. he has the spirit with him very strongly. I've been sleeping pretty good besides the masquitoes I'll take pictures of all the big bugs I see just for you guys.
We have been super busy and visiting with the members. we have been eating rice and beans and tons of crackers. my favorite juice is mango. its sooo rich in flavor I've been teaching tons of ppl and my portuguese is doing alot better We have to walk everywhere and theres a huge hill but its good excercise. The weather is hot and humid but the beach when i see it is beautiful
I miss eating steak and hamburgers and have been craving real meat and pizza. We have i think 4 more investigators. They seem to be interessted oh and i baptized the 2 converts in my first week and it was amazing!!! i did it in portugues When my companion and I get done with everything for the day we go back home shower and relax under a fan.
if i have to pay too much i probably wont get the package. but i do love u. ;)))

Elder Jordan Stenquist, has been with Greg since they went into the Provo MTC in August. They got their visas at the same time and were companions in the CTM with Sister Corbin. Now that they are in the field, Jordan's e-mail said that they are both living in the same place with their new companions. Greg is in Sao Miguel dos Campos. In Jordan's e-mail he said that he was in Sao Miguel which was about 1 hour from Maceio.

Hey, Mommy!
I love and miss you sooo much. I got to Brazil, and my comp is Brazillian and doesn't know English... Yaayyy!
I'll learn a lot, but it is hard. Tell Daniel not to do stupid crap with the other scouts. Please don't make me start thinking that just cause I left, you can be a ditz. I love you, but don't do stupid stuff with them. Only me when I get back. Oooh, and take seminary seriously. I didn't and I am paying for it now.
Jacob, how is school? are you doing good?? Are you bigger than me yet??
Alisa, are you winning the hearts of all the boys?? Don't let them kiss you though. It's not worth it. ;)

I love and miss you sooo much. I got to Brazil, and my comp is Brazillian and doesn't know English... Yaayyy!
I'll learn a lot, but it is hard. Tell Daniel not to do stupid crap with the other scouts. Please don't make me start thinking that just cause I left, you can be a ditz. I love you, but don't do stupid stuff with them. Only me when I get back. Oooh, and take seminary seriously. I didn't and I am paying for it now.

Its a good area, I loved it there. His trainer is Elder Mikaell (Brazilian), who is a great missionary. I really doubt we could be companions because it's not common to have 2 Americans together, and if so generally only on your early transfers and I´ll be here in the office for probably 2 more transfers. But who knows, everything is possible. He seems like a good guy."

October 5, 2010 - Letter
Hey mom and dad and the kids! :) so our flight to Brazil got delayed till about 10:30 so we were really late getting to Brasil. The flight was good though. I couldn't really fall asleep on the plane though. I only got about two hours of sleep. When we got here and picked up at the airport on a transit 15 person bus, the drivers here are CRAZY!!! They don't look they cut across and they are just flat out wacko!!! But whatever. Oh and people here don't have the right of way. Haha but enough of the city. I'm so glad I got to talk to you guys. It was the best EVER!!! Everyone still sounds the same. :) G-ma called me afterwards and i briefly talked to her and Gpa. Donna's phone was dying and I needed to get on the plane. buuuut it ended up not taking off so tell her i'm sorry. The food here, granted looks and sounds weird but it tastes really good. Everything is sweet and rich. And I LOVE Guadana. I think that's how it's spelled. When I took a shower I never dried off though haha. :) The brazilians are sooo funny. when they try to speak English they sound like us trying to speak Portuguese. But being surrounded by them helps with the language. They said that it takes two weeks for letters to travel if their post office workers aren't on strike... Tuesday is my pday. Tomorrow I'm going out to street contact!!!!! And place my first Book of Mormon and i have to do it in Portuguese. :\ (Greg scribbled something out and said "sorry, I started writing in Portuguese haha") It's going to be so awesome here! I'm going to go to Brasil Maceio really soon!

hey sister and mom. yes heather show mom too. thanks for organizing everything. it helps alot as soon as i learn how to use it that is. tell betsi that her email she sent me i cant open it up. idk why but it wont let me. its weird but maybe if u could read it and then let me know what it says then i can reply to her. i don't know why i cant read it though. the computer keeps blocking it. anyways i hope the job thing works out. and thats awesome that your going back to school to finish everything up. the companions are great and the language is getting easier but its still difficult. i did see conference in english and i loved it!! they are soo awesome. i took notes on all of them. it was funny when uchtdorf choked up and couldn't talk hahah anyways. im going to send u guys a letter so when u get it it will have the mtc address on the outside and my mission house in maceio cause im leaving on the 19th to maceio!!! its crazy that im going out so soon. i dont know enough portugese yet so idk how well i will do. but i know ill eventually get it. how is daniel doing??? tell him i love him. hows the classes going mom? do u like the teachers? dad, are the kids behaving themselves or do u have some more award winning videos of them. heather u should look up on youtube for the scene in despicable me when she yells its sooo FLUFFY!! but in portugese. my teacher was quoting it and it sounds hilarious. daniel hows wrestling going?? wat is he having u do? have u tried to wrestle shane yet?? haha i bet u lost ;))) alisa, are u still wearin that makeup crap ;) i bet you're doing wonderfully in school. and you too jacob. hows school. is it easy or hard now?? hi mom this wont be very long cause im running out of time. please know that i love u though. its sooo awesome here. the temple was awesome and my TWO comps are elder stenquist and SISTER corbin. yes thats right ;))) haha pretty funny but anyways last friday we went out proselyting!!! it was soooooooo coool!!!!!! we gave out ten bom´s im glad you got the picture ;) that was the mtc people though that did that so dont get too excited haha hows class?? i know u can get through it and pass with an A you are really good at school stuff. my time is up mom i love u. ur the best mom any kid could of asked for. i love u. oh tell dad he better take me to the truck races when i get back!! i love u all! bye!

So I heard you were feeling left out. :) I figured you had enough papers to read you don't need one more :) It's been going pretty well here. The food is doing a number on me. It truely doesn't matter what it is you eat, it messes you up either way. There's a scripture you should share with everyone. It's Jeremiah 4:19? I think. 19 or 14. But it starts off, "My bowels" I'm sure everyone will get a kick out of it. And don't worry about the length of your letters. It's not the amount but the thought that counts. I'm glad I could make you proud of me for doing this. I Can't wait to serve and baptize the people of Brasil. I love you a lot dad. :)

Sorry I have been soooo busy and I haven't had time to write you. It's been really crazy and I've been studying soo hard for this language. I'm starting to get it down though. I don't care what you do with the furniture, You can do what you like. I do still want the system for when I get back though. It sounds wonderful the color scheme. The color layout for the room is awesome.
Yeah I though they would get a kick out of it. I was a video about the teenager and the crash go on youtube and watch these videos... Robert D. And my watch is fine but I was wondering if you can send another cheap one that's water resistant to at least 50 meters, has a back light, digital readout for 24 hour time, month and date.
My companion is Devitry and I'm rooming with Elder Stanquest and Noyes (Noise is how you pronounce it). I get along the best with Noyes.
It's about time that Heather went through her clothes :) She has enough to clothe half the country of Africa! :) So Alisa in high heels huh? I'm glad your class is going well. You are always awesome with school stuff. I'm sure you will just blow your teachers away. I go to the temple every Friday at about 9:30 or 10 ish sessions. I'm really beginning to understand the temple more and more. It's so awesome. There's a scripture in D&C I think, I don't remember where, but it references that we will be able to see God's hand if we live righteous. And that's referencing to when He will stretch out his hand and accept us through the veil. :) :) Anyways AWWWW tell Jacob that I miss his jello! :) and his water jiggling stomach. Yeah I got Daniel's letter. That's awesome that Heather got a calling. :) She better not eat all the snacks though! :) Sundays we have the works. Priesthood and sacrament and temple walks. Interviews with the District Leaders, and then church movies at night. It's a really relaxed day. My p-day is friday and that's when I try to catch up on sleep but it never works. Ooooh I cut open my thumb! :) haha it's pretty much healed up, but I cut it good! Um, I really won't have a lot of time for thank you notes. If you send them though, I will do my best to do them!

I would have loved to see that. So I heard you were comparing me typing to one of Dallin's letters. Haha I hate typing mom, you know that! :) Sorry. Love you!!! I'm still hanging in there with my companion. It's still annoying though. So what did you and dad do for your anniversary?!?!?!
I can't remember if I wrote Gma, but tell her I did het her letter and that I say thank you for it. Tell her I'm jealous of Melvin!! I want a boat, I want to take my clothes off and jump into that lake too! anyways...
So this letter is a progress over two days. I got your dear elder letter. That's docura (sweet or sweetness) that dad did that for you! Tell Daniel to make friends with the coaches, especially Cochran and Abrams. And foods and nutrition....? REALLY?!???? Come on Daniel pick something like theater tech or something better than foods. Haha so Alisa's wearing make up huh.... well she better not be pickin up the boys there at school. They still have to go through me to get to her. I got a package from Betsi with tons of letter making things in it. I told her thank you for it. :) The MTC is just the same... Wake up, gym, breakfast, class, lunch, class, dinner, class, prep for tomorrow, sleep, and repeat...So nothing special. We had Elder Richard G. Hinckley give the fireside today. August 31st. it was awesome! The week before Elder Holland spoke to us. I Love him!!!1 He gives awesome talks. Here's a joke I heard. When Satan goes to bed at night, he checks under his bed for Elder Holland! :P Anyways. I Love you sooo much and I miss all of you.

hey sister what do u mean i never write u?!?!?!!? what do u call this ;) so did u guys get the letter that said that Daniel can have the glasses? so did u read the letter i sent to dawnie?? today is Friday the 10 and I'm going to send mom a letter OK so tell her that's why i didn't email her. that sounds like alot of fun dog sittin. i miss movies soooooooooo BAD!!!!! and music. we aren't technically allowed to listen to it but i do on p-day like today while i sleep ;) and when i get back you'll just have to catch me up on buffy. and thats not my fault daniel found my attitude. haha wat can i say he's just like me ;) ill write him a letter and hopefully he will heed to my words. i'll throw in some scripture references. i wish i could of been able to hear jakie sing "oprah"! that would of been hilarious to hear. well i only get 30 min to type and im out of time now. i emailed ben as well ;) tell everyone i love them and to obey mom. oh tell mom to look up parenting or mothers by holland on youtube. its awesome. love u big sister ;))

I know the Lord will bless you for your desire to help childrengain knowledge and help form the children of the "last days" :) Ya! Any stories I would love to have that you find about our past relatives. And I would totally stand in the way of any mob trying to harm this gospel or our prophet :) and also I too am working on forgiveness. Daniel, how are you doing?I bet you're still mad about the sun glasses. Well here are my stipulations in order for you to get them. You have to take good care of them. They're expensive glasses. Mom this is me giving you permission to get them down for him. I'm not sure where they are but Daniel can help you. Daniel, let mom get them down when it's convenient for her. hey mom ya i know my typing skills suck but im doin the best i can. i only have 30min to type and its just not enough time sorry. and i hate computers anyways. :) tell heather that she should take dad there to that place for bday and i do see dallin a little bit. not alot of talking time though. and no i havent seen her friend. the mtc is awesome. elder holland came and talked to us and it was amazing!!!!!!I've never felt the spirit so strong there. he said some funny things but my favorite is he said "the path to eternal glory always goes through gethseminy". oh heather needs to get active and stop watching buffy :)))))) my companion is alright. better than some of the other people in my company but he acts just like daniel so I don't know... its frusturating at times. i sent u a letter anyways tell alisa thank you for the drawings and thank u for the letter. tell jacob that i havent gotten into any fights but i can beat up MY WHOLE DISTRICT!!!!!! tell gma thankyou for the letter and what she sent. that its been amazing here. and tell her good job for makin heather show her how to use it. also that i have seen "that waite boy" :) daniel ur a macaco :) no more lighters and sunblock. tell him that he should tell zach that i get all u can eat food three times a day and that zach and i would rule this mtc muahahahaha. haha tell everyone that i love them and i cant wait to get my ipod. oh also i would think ur awesome if u sent me another cheap watch. like the one i had got at walmart. velco band waterproof with a back light. also some gum :) so far there's no word on visas. some people have gotten them and there's still tons more that have been waiting for over eight weeks... and some are getting transfered. im glade your doin well and again i love u all. and dad the only other big guy here is a 6'4'' 275 lbs black guy. haha but me and him are cool. happy birthday and i love u. well my time is up so ill talk to you next friday. love u bye!

August 2010 - Letter
Mom, it's never good to be selfish. :) Everything is going really well. I'm starting to enjoy my other roommates better than my comp. He leaves his stuff all over the place and only wants to do what he wants to do. Aaaaaaand it's getting annoying. But anyways I am not going to get into it. So Sage's wedding went good then. Haha yeah I could see Alisa and Jacob running around eating everything. Tell Daniel to put himself in my shoes. What if he wasgoing away for 2 years. He wouldn't want to leave anything he liked out either. When I get back he can wear them when I approve of it. And I did the same thing to you so yeah. :) He is just trying to be like me.
